Athena’s wonderful and competent coaching helped me feel very well-prepared and confident for my medical interviews.
Having received three offers from top medical schools, I consider this success to also be due to Athena’s wonderful insight and knowledge about the specific requirements and considerations of each uni as well as her skilled guidance throughout the whole uni application process. This included her helping me think outside the box while writing my personal statement, challenging me with specific practice questions for my interviews as well as helping me verbalise my answers, and giving me constructive feedback.
Last but not least, I also really appreciate Athena’s gentle, yet very focused way of communication and coaching, which not only made me feel comfortable, but also provided the best use of my resources.
I’d definitely recommend Athena to anyone who aims for excellence in the variety of areas of her expertise.

“Athena Stockwell is a gifted teacher. Her explanations are clearer than clear: they are pellucid and inspired. She engages empathetically with her students and excels at eliciting their best from them. She is a marvel!”

“Athena is a fantastic mentor who believed in me and helped me prepare for my undergraduate university applications and interviews.
With her help, I achieved my dream of going to Oxford University. I even went on to complete a Masters at Oxford after my first degree. I would highly recommend Athena as a teacher. Athena was not only very supportive during our lessons but is also a very kind and caring person in general. I started my lessons with a tutor and ended my time with Athena as a friend.”
Natalie (accepted for Biochemistry by Oxford University)
“Ms. Athena is an admirable teacher who helped guide me through the university application process. I will forever cherish her mentoring. Ms. Athena helped me grow as a writer, a student, and as a citizen of the world. Despite the distance, we managed to organize a schedule on Skype which proved to be most efficient and beneficial. No matter where in the world, Ms. Athena manages to radiate her optimistic energy and care for her students. Alongside her talented ability to advise, support, and guide me, Ms. Athena was and will forever be a friend and the most cultured person I know.”

“I used to find English Language and Literature classes a struggle at school. Athena, with her enthusiasm and targeted approach, was able to change my perspective regarding English Language and English Literature so much that I ended up really enjoying both subjects.
When it came to university applications I hardly knew where to start. However, with Athena’s help, I was able to gain confidence in my writing and learned to structure my thoughts clearly. She was a joy to work with.”

“Athena was my pre-sessional EAP lecturer at university. She had good interactions with the class and often led students to think and discuss problems. She was patient with the students and enthusiastic in her teaching approach. I am so grateful to have met such a good lecturer in my pre-sessional course.”
Carson from China (accepted for a Masters in the United Kingdom)
“Athena has a great ability to explain things and concepts. Using a high degree of clarity and a good sense of humour Athena is able to instil a feeling of confidence in her students and raise their awareness of and interest in life-long learning. She is able to prepare them to achieve their academic goals. During my English learning experience with Athena she facilitated the learning process and helped all her students love learning and develop their own ideas.”
Dita from Albania (accepted for a Masters in the United Kingdom)
“Athena is one of the kindest teachers and is also able to create content that students enjoy so much. She gives academic English learners a unique, fun and effective way to learn.”
Toon from Thailand (accepted for a Masters in the United Kingdom)
“I was very satisfied with Athena’s classes. My English improved in terms of writing, reading, speaking and listening. It was evident in her classes that she is very professional and has a lot of experience. When she taught a certain expression, she explained something beyond the expression. She taught us about British culture. She is the kind of person who has an understanding of different cultures. She helped me to understand unfamiliar English terms using examples from Asian culture. I appreciated the fact that she studied at Oxford and was honoured to have her as my English teacher.”
Tom from Korea (accepted for a Masters in the United Kingdom
“Athena was my tutor during a period of my secondary school life, for extra studies in English. She was an extremely supportive teacher, helping to make things much clearer for me and using a very engaging way of teaching. It turned English from a class that did not interest me much at all to one that ended up being thoroughly enjoyable into the later stages of my higher education. Athena triggered an interest in literature which continues even today.”
I.S from India, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom
“I always looked forward to lessons with Athena: they were always fun, whether it was learning new vocabulary or writing an article. She is enthusiastic and flamboyant which added something special to the learning experience. Most important of all, she does not only support your learning but is also there as a friend.”
Gary from Hong Kong (accepted by Sevenoaks School)
“I do not deem that there is a “perfect” lecturer here on earth and indeed “perfection” is not necessarily what I want from a lecturer. However my lecturer, Athena Stockwell, certainly came close. She was professional, conscientious, erudite, patient, helpful and kind. With her help I built a solid foundation in English literature and completed my Master’s degree in English at the University of Oxford and then studied at Harvard University. I am truly grateful for her teaching and guidance.”
Noble from Hong Kong (studied at Oxford University and Harvard University)
